Eliminating plastic pollution and moving towards a circular economy

Twelve months after the launch of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, has published its first annual progress report.

It provides an unprecedented level of transparency on how almost 200 businesses and governments are changing and reducing their plastic production and use.

In the report, companies set out actions to eliminate problematic plastic packaging and increase the use of recycled plastic in packaging by more than five-fold by 2025.  The report shows promising early progress against these goals.

This announcement is an important step in the Foundation’s mission to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy. Rathbone Greenbank Investments endorsed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment in October 2018.
