Ellen MacArthur Foundation release a new report on ‘The Circular Economy Solution to Plastic Pollution’
Rathbone Greenbank Investments is pleased to have been a New Plastics Global Commitment signatory since October 2018, supporting the work of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation with their aim to accelerate the move towards a circular economy and calling for urgent change in the production and use of plastic.
Recently, a new report entitled, “Breaking the Plastic Wave”, has been published by The Pew Charitable Trusts and SYSTEMIQ, with thought partners The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, University of Oxford, University of Leeds, and Common Seas. To accompany the report, the Ellen MacArthur foundation has developed “The Circular Economy Solution to Plastic Pollution” outlining clear and urgent calls to action needed to stem advancing climate change and increasing levels of plastic pollution.
Following the outbreak of Covid-19, the global economy is operating against a backdrop of economic uncertainty and unemployment. Encouraging the transition to a circular economy offers opportunities for Governments to ‘build back better’ by addressing global issues such as plastic pollution and climate change alongside helping to restore the environment and create jobs.
