Our largest advisory assignment has been the £1.3billion Environment Agency Pension Fund (EAPF) where we have acted as their SRI and corporate governance adviser, helping them to implement a new investment strategy. While it is early days, the new investment strategy has improved performance, reduced risk and significantly improved the environmental performance and ethical credentials of the portfolio. They have won multiple awards for their SRI policies.

We have an in-house ethical research team and believe the direct communication and immediate response this provides is essential to our services.

Our ethical researchers gather information from a wide variety of sources including the international and specialist press, corporate reports, brokers, NGO reports and official sources. We also supplement this with research from external research organisations. Our research team can provide screening and ethical research to third party fund managers, and also help support engagement as well as helping to review and evaluate other research and ethical exclusions.

For larger organisations, such as foundations and pension funds, we provide an advisory service which helps them to develop and implement socially responsible investment policies. We can explain and identify how social and environmental issues can be integrated into a portfolio, and provide background information and training on ethical investment. We also provide more specific advice on portfolio construction and awarding mandates. In doing this we consider the various different approaches to ethical investment, and evaluate the potential impact on risk and returns. We are well aware of the requirements of fiduciary responsibility and we are committed to supporting individually tailored solutions to ethical investment, which take account of specific requirements on both environmental and social matters, and financial objectives.
