The Funding Network: Campaigning and advocacy event

29 Jun 2011

We are pleased to sponsor The Funding Network's Summer funding event, focusing on campaigning and advocacy projects.

Guests will hear from an expert speaker who will set the context for the theme, then from five campaigners looking for support in order to carry out their game changing work. You may be familiar with some of the issues they will be discussing, but others are less mainstream, though no less pressing:

Free West Papua Campaign is a peaceful campaign working with West Papuan leaders, international politicians, lawyers and the general public to campaign for the self-determination for the people of West Papua, which has been historically denied.

OneVoice Movement aims to empower the current young leaders in Israel and Palestine with the skills necessary to seize back the agenda within their own societies.
Rural Libraries Project uses the provision of libraries to educate, support and protect the cultural development of the rural indigenous communities in the Andes of Northern Peru.
Gay Rights Uganda campaigns and lobbies within Uganda and in the international community to have the criminalisation of LGBT dropped from the Ugandan penal code.

Biofuelwatch is building a strong campaign to persuade the government to remove subsidies for electricity generated from bioliquids and biomass, whose production and use has many negative environmental and social impacts.
