Rathbone Greenbank Investments
The Community Farm AGM
Elizabeth Haigh from Rathbone Greenbank Investments attended the second AGM of The Community Farm, held on the 10th October at Chew Valley School.
A good turn out of members from Bristol and The Chew Valley approved the accounts and listened to an update on the agricultural and community projects undertaken by farm staff over the year. The head grower explained how the difficult climate had lead to the farm losing its main crop of potatoes and squash to blight. However cucumbers and tomatoes had done well. It is hoped that the investment in new poly tunnels and farm machinery would make the growing easier next year.
Certainly, the staff conditions have been improved by new packing tables and mains electricity making hot drinks available. Investors also heard heard that the box schemes which are the main source of income for the farm have increased to over 500 and a new community engagement worker has been appointed thanks to a grant.
