Rathbone Greenbank Investments signs Forest Footprint Disclosure Project
16 June 2009
Rathbone Greenbank Investments was pleased to become a founder signatory to the Forest Footprint Disclosure Project today. This is an investor-led project to ask companies to identify and manage their forest footprint - the extent to which they may be contributing to the destruction of the rainforest. While few companies are directly involved in logging the rainforest, many are indirectly involved through their supply chains - by using illegal timber, by purchasing key commodities involved in rainforest destruction (notably beef, soy and palm oil), or though their involvement in biofuels. The project will hopefully lead to better management of the risks and greater recognition by companies (and also consumers) of the impact they are having on forests.
