The 2009 Annual Garrad Hassan Renewable Energy Lecture: Energy Security and Complexity

20 January 2009

Members of the Rathbone Greenbank Investments team attended this lecture in Bristol on 20 January 2009. Garrad Hassan kicked off the proceedings with a positive outlook on the renewable energy sector and informed the packed audience of the various job vacancies available with them – somewhat of a rarity in the current environment!

Professor Catherine Mitchell from the University of Exeter presented her view of UK and global energy policy – where we’ve come from, the challenges facing us and her goal of a decentralised, sustainable energy policy. Although one sensed Professor Mitchell’s despair at times regarding historic and current policy, there was palpable optimism that through the assembled parties - renewable energy companies, academia and the young, bright minds of the Bristol University students - a sustainable energy policy could be realised.
